Seitan strips recipe

Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 1/4 cup pea protein
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 tsp cajun powder
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp lemon salt (citric acid)
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp oat milk
  • 3-4 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cube vegetable stock dissolved in 1 cup of hot water for simmering
Cooking Instructions:
  1. Dissolve 1/2 vegetable cube in a cup of hot water and set it aside.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Add in the wet ingredients and mix by hand by pushing the seitan into a ball without kneading.
  4. Slice the seitan ball into strip and fry in some oil till dark brown on both sides.
  5. Add the dissolved veggie stock to the pan and let it simmer till all the water evaporates.
  6. Let it rest for 5 minutes then serve it on top of any dish as meat replacement.
